His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday morning visited the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School in Kampung Katok.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Dayang Hajah Rusidah binti Haji Talip, the Principal of the school. The school's construction was completed last year under the 10th National Development Plan with more than Forty Six Million Dollars to place the students and teachers of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School.

Shortly after arrival, His Majesty held a closed discussion session with the Principal and tutors of the school. Present were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, the Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, the Acting Minister of Religious Affairs, Awang Haji Mohammed Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim, the Permanent Secretary for Law and Welfare at the Prime Minister's Office and Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

His Majesty then received the junjung ziarah from the school's tutors and staff.  The Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School in Kampung Katok has 136 tutors and nearly One Thousand and Six Hundred female students from Year 7 to 11.  The school has achieved excellence in the curriculum area with 95 point 8-9 percent recorded pass last year in the Brunei Religious Certificate of Education Examinations.

The school's gaol is to achieve the hope and aspiration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam for it to be a unique Arabic Religious School with and Islamic educational system and expertise in Arabic Language, which is implemented to educate the young generation towards producing and shaping a nation with a strong belief with the Islamic teachings.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday morning consented to attend the Royal Ceremonial Funeral of Al-Marhumah Yang Amat Mulia Enche' Besar Hajah Khalsum binti Abdullah at Istana Besar Johor Bahru. Upon arrival at the Senai International Airport, Johor, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Tunku Abdul Rahman Hassanal Jefri ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Panglima Johor. Doa Selamat was recited by Haji Mohd Nazri bin Haji Ali, Imam Daerah Muar. Accompanying His Majesty was His Majesty's son, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.

From the Senai International Airport, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen attended the Royal Ceremonial Funeral of Al-Marhumah Yang Amat Mulia Enche' Besar Hajah Khalsum binti Abdullah.

Upon arrival at Istana Besar Johor, His Majesty was greeted by Members of the Johor Council of Royal Court. His Majesty then proceeded to the Throne Hall, where His Majesty was welcomed by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Iskandar, Sultan and Yang Dipertuan of Johor Darul Takzim, and other members of the Royal Family.

His Majesty together with His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Iskandar, Sultan of Johore, then proceeded to pay their final respect to Al-Marhumah Yang Amat Mulia Enche' Besar Hajah Khalsum binti Abdullah, before performing the Jenazah prayer led by Yang Berbahagia Dato' Haji Nooh bin Gadot, Religious Advisor of Johor Darul Takzim.

His Majesty together with His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Iskandar, Sultan of Johor Darul Takzim and members of the Royal Family then joined in the Funeral Procession towards the Bukit Mahmoodiah Royal Mausoleum. Al-Marhumah was laid to rest at the Bukit Mahmoodiah Royal Mausoleum before the Zohor prayer.

Al-Marhumah Yang Amat Mulia Enche' Besar Hajah Khalsum binti Abdullah passed away on Friday, 1st of June 2018 in King Edward VII Hospital, London at the age of 83.

Before leaving the Bukit Mahmoodiah Royal Mausoleum, His Majesty was bid farewell and safe journey by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Iskandar, Sultan of Johor Darul Takzim. Also present at the Senai International Airport, Johore, to bid farewell to His Majesty was Yang Amat Mulia Tunku Abdul Rahman Hassanal Jefri ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Panglima Johor.

The highlight of the National Nuzul Al-Quran celebration was the presentation of prizes to the winners of the National Finals of Al-Quran Memorising and Understanding Competition 1439 Hijrah. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to present the prizes to the respective winners.

Upon arriving at the International Convention Centre, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Yang Di-Pertua Adat of Istiadat Negara; Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs as the Chairman Of The Major Islamic Events Celebrations For 1439 Hijrah Executive Committee; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Dr. Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, the Second Minister of Finance; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti; Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs; Dato Paduka Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, the Deputy Minister of Finance, as well as other members of the Executive Committee.

Also gracing the event were His Majesty's sons, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik; and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.

The function commenced with the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

In his welcoming address, the Minister of Religious Affairs among other matters touched on the celebration's theme "Al-Quran Sumber Kepimpinan Adil" - explaining that in Al-Quran, a Just Leadership originates from various sources which include guidance from Allah the Almighty or Aqwam. Yang Berhormat also highlighted the increasing number of entries this year.

In Islam, the core of leadership of development is based on two main pillars, namely strength and honesty or trustworthiness. Yang Arif, Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Tasim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, the Shari'ah High Court Judge, in a special talk titled "Al Quran Sumber Kepimpinan Adil" or "Al-Quran, the Source of Just Leadership" stressed the two basic pillars complement one another in building the identity or character of a great and just leader.

The event was further enlivened by the performance of the five best participants in the National Finals of Al-Quran Memorising and Understanding Competition. In 'A' Category of the Memorising and Understanding of Selected Verses from the 30th Chapter for participants aged 11 and below, the winner was Dayang Ezyan Adibah binti Awang Mohd Hanafi.

'B' Category for participants aged 17 and below was won by Dayang Nur Najihah binti Alias.

Awang Julazni bin Haji Zaini won the 'C' Category of Memorising and Understanding of 3 Chapters of Al-Quran which was opened to all age groups.

'D' Category of Memorising 15 Chapters of Al-Quran and Understanding of the 12th Chapter for all age groups was won by Dayang Salwa binti Haji Ibrahim.

Awang Abdul Aziz bin Noor Nasran won the 'E' Category of Memorising 30 Chapters of Al-Quran and Understanding of the 23rd Chapter which was also opened to all age groups.

His Majesty consented to present the prizes to the respective winners. The champion in the National finals of Al-Quran Memorising and Understanding of 'A' Category received 1,500 dollars, an Umrah Package costing 4,500 dollars sponsored by Brunei Shell Petroleum Company (BSP), a digital Al-Quran sponsored by Brunei Shell Marketing Sendirian Berhad (BSM) as well as a Luminox watch sponsored by Brunei LNG (BLNG). The 'B' Category champion received two thousand dollars, an Umrah Package costing 4,500 dollars from BSP, a digital Al-Quran sponsored by BSM, and a Luminox watch from BLNG. The 'C' Category winner received two thousand and eight hundred dollars, a 4,500 dollar Umrah Package sponsored by BSP, a digital Al-Quran from BSM, and a Luminox watch from BLNG. The 'D' Category champion received three thousand and five hundred dollars, 4,500 dollar Umrah Package from BSP, a digital Al-Quran sponsored by BSM and a Luminox watch sponsored by BLNG. The 'E' Category winner received five thousand dollars, 4,500 dollar Umrah Package from BSP, digital Al-Quran from BSM as well as a Luminox watch sponsored by BLNG. The winners also received accompanying trophies and certificates.

To bless the ceremony, the Doa Selamat was read by the State Mufti.

The National Nuzul Al-Quran Celebration was jointly organised by the Royal Customs and Excise Department, the Ministry of Finance and Brunei Shell Petroleum Company, BSP and its subsidiaries, the BSM, BLNG and Brunei Gas Carriers Sendirian Berhad. His Majesty's Government through the Ministry of Religious Affairs continues efforts to improve the learning Al-Quran and will make further studies to ensure Al-Quran will always be the guiding light in the lives of the country's citizens and residents.

The Prime Minister's Office and departments under it held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony this afternoon. The ceremony marked the completion of reading 30 Juzuk or Chapters of Al-Quran during Ramadhan. It took place at Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampung Kiarong in the capital.


The event was attended by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office. Also present was Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, Chief Syari'e Judge. The ceremony was conducted by the Security and Enforcement Division, Prime Minister's Office, the Sate Mufti's Department, the Information Department, the Royal Brunei Police Force and the State Judicial Department. The function continued with the breaking of fast and mass Maghrib prayer.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office in a sabda stresses the wish to see continued unity of the country's citizens and residents during the glorious celebration of the birthday anniversary of His Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.  Such unity only comes from strong consensus and agreement among the people.  His Royal Highness says the importance of unity cannot be taken lightly for it is not easy to build a national identity and to elevate the honour of the nation especially in efforts to realise the objectives of Wawasan Brunei 2035.


His Royal Highness made the sabda during the 2nd Meeting of the National Committee for His Majesty's 72nd Birthday Celebrations this morning.  His Royal Highness who is the committee's Patron also called on youths to reap the full benefits of the celebration in fostering voluntarism to always serve the Monarch, religion, nation and country.  Apart from that His Royal Highness also stresses the importance of keeping the surroundings clean before and after the celebration.  The meeting was held at the Prime Minister's Office in Jalan Perdana Menteri.

 

Upon arriving, His Royal Highness was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, the Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara as the Advisor of the National Committee for His Majesty's 72nd Birthday Celebrations and Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doktor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, the Minister of Home Affairs as the Chairman of the committee.


The meeting began with the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. In the welcoming address the Minister of Home Affairs expressed great appreciation and gratitude for His Royal Highness's presence at the meeting.


In the Sabda, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince stresses that everyone responsible for the celebration should act wisely in planning and organising ceremonies and events that can open wide opportunities and attract active involvement among government agencies, the private sector, non-government organisations, including students, youths as well as the country's citizens and residents in general.


His Royal Highness also expresses confidence that specific preparations for this year's events have been planned properly by everyone involved to ensure their smooth running.  However, the making each plan should be guided by the Titah of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in matters related to the wellbeing of the country's people.


The meeting heard reports on the preparations of the main events to mark His Majesty's 72nd Birthday celebrations.  They included the hoisting of the large National Flag, Doa Kesyukuran ceremony, mass Fardhu Maghrib prayers, the reading of Surah Yasin and Tahlil at all mosques, suraus and prayer halls nationwide on July 14th, there Get-together and Junjung Ziarah in each district, and Khatamal Quran ceremonies by mukim kampung consultative councils and school students.  The presence of His Royal Highness at the meeting reflected the concern, attention and commitment of His Royal Highness to the role and task s of the committee.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send a message of congratulations to His Majesty King Abdullah The Second ibn Al-Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Members of the Royal Family as well as the Government and people of Jordan on the auspicious occasion of their Independence Day.


In the message to His Majesty King Abdullah the Second ibn Al-Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, His Majesty looked forward to continue working closely with His Majesty to strengthen the much-valued friendship that has long been shared by the two countries and peoples, as well as to broaden the cooperation in the coming years. Furthermore, His Majesty expressed his happiness to meet His Majesty King Abdullah the Second Ibn Al-Hussein at the Extraordinary Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul in December 2017, and hope to meet His Majesty again in Jordan this year. In ending the message, His Majesty prayed that may Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala bless His Majesty King Abdullah the Second Ibn Al-Hussein and members of the Royal Family with good health and happiness and the people of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with continued progress, peace and prosperity.

​The Public Service Department of the Prime Minister's Office hereby announces that His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented for the appointments and transfers of four Senior Officers.


Dayang Hajah Nor Aidah binti Haji Abdullah, Senior Special Duties Officer at the Ministry of Finance has been promoted and confirmed as the Director of Budget at the Expenditure Division, Ministry of Finance.


Dayang Hajah Nurliati binti Haji Md Idris, Senior Special Duties Officer as the Head of Fiscal Forecasting Unit - F.F.U, Ministry of Finance is transferred and appointed as the Director of the Monitoring and Delivery Unit at the Ministry of Finance.


Awang Mohammad Nizam bin Haji Ismi, Director of Research and International at the Research and International Division is transferred and appointed as the Director of Registry of Companies and Business Names.


Dayang Hajah Rena Azlina binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Aziz, Director of Registry of Companies and Business Names is transferred and appointed as the Director of Research and International at the Research and International Division, Ministry of Finance. The appointments and transfers are effective from 12th May 2018.

The Prime Minister's Office and the departments under it continued the Tadarus ceremony yesterday late afternoon at Kampong Serdang Mosque, in conjunction with the month of Ramadhan.


The ceremony commenced with the presentation of endowment comprising equipment for the use of the mosque. It was presented by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office. This was followed by the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah, Tadarus Al-Quran, Tahlil, Doa Arwah and Doa Selamat. Also present were the Auditor General; Permanent Secretaries; Deputy Commissioner of Police; Heads of Department, officer and staff of the Prime Minister's Office and the departments under it.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman, yesterday afternoon watched the 26th Brunei Age Group Swimming Championship. The championship takes place at the National Swimming Pool of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

Also in attendance were the sons and daughter of His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince, Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda 'Abdul Muntaqim; Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah and Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda Muhammad Aiman. 

In the championship, Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda 'Abdul Muntaqim, represented ISB Hammerheads won third place in the 50-metre backstroke. Yang Teramat Mulia recorded his personal best in the category with 48.55 seconds. 

Meanwhile, Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah, also representing ISB Hammerheads created the fastest record of 59.63 seconds in 50-metre backstroke girls category. Yang Teramat Mulia also emerged as the best for the 7-year-old girls age group.

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince presented the medal to Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah. The 3-day championship was organised by the Brunei Amateur Swimming Association and supported by the Youth and Sports Department.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam officially launched the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy, HBT, for ASEAN Youths Football Tournament 2018, a short while ago. The ceremony took place at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, Berakas.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, President of the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam as the Advisor of the Executive Committee of the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy, HBT, for ASEAN Youths Football Tournament 2018. Also present to greet His Majesty's arrival was Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports as well as members of the Executive Committee.

Soon after arrival, His Majesty received junjung ziarah from sponsors.

Also present were His Majesty's sons and brothers, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah as well as members of the Royal family.

His Majesty then declared the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy for ASEAN Youths Football Tournament 2018 officially opened. 

The opening ceremony was enlivened with firework display and Human LED performance.

His Majesty was then introduced to the team managers, coaches and team captains. Seven countries are taking part in the tournament. Group 'A' comprises teams from Brunei Darussalam, Timor Leste, Myanmar and Thailand; while Group 'B' are Lao PDR, Singapore and Cambodia. His Majesty also presented souvenirs to team managers of the participating nations.

His Majesty then received a pasambah from the HBT 2018 Organising Committee.

The Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy Football Tournament is jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam, NFABD. The tournament aims to uphold the Titah of His Majesty to involve the best teams in the ASEAN Region to compete in the ASEAN or South East Asian Football league.

The Official Launching Ceremony was followed by a Group A match between Host, Brunei Darussalam in yellow jerseys and Timor Leste. Currently, the score stands at Brunei Darussalam 0, Timor Leste 1.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam left the United Kingdom after attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) which was held for three days from 18th April 2018.

Prior to leaving His Majesty's residence, Doa Selamat was recited by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr.) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, today received three separate goodwill visits from His Excellency Mehmet Suat Akgun, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Brunei Darussalam; Her Excellency Yang Jian, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam; and His Excellency Cho Won-myung, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Brunei Darussalam.

During the first visit, Yang Berhormat the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and His Excellency Mehmet Suat Akgun discussed bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on various issues including in the fields of security, technology and economy.

Meanwhile in the other two visits, Yang Berhormat the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office discussed separately with Her Excellency Yang Jian; and His Excellency Cho Won-myung, bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on various issues including in the fields of security, technology, development and economy.

Brunei Darussalam established bilateral relations with the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of Korea respectively in 1984, whereas bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and the People’s Republic of China was established in 1991.

The meetings were held at the Office of the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister’s Office Building.

During the first visit, Yang Berhormat the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and His Excellency the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Brunei Darussalam discussed bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on issues including in the fields of security, economy, education, communications and sports.

In a separate visit, Yang Berhormat the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and His Excellency the High Commissioner of the Republic to Singapore to Brunei Darussalam discussed bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, investment, public service issue and opportunities for exercise for public service officials.

Present during the visit from His Excellency the High Commissioner of the Republic to Singapore to Brunei Darussalam was Yang Mulia Datin Dayang Hajah Elinda binti Haji C.A. Mohammad, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Brunei Darussalam established bilateral relations with Japan and the Republic of Singapore respectively in 1984. Both meetings were held at the Office of the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister’s Office Building.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, last night watched the Brunei DPMM FC beat Home United in a Singapore Premier League duel. The match took place at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

Also present were His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah as well as other members of the royal family. Brunei DPMM FC in black took full advantage of playing on home turf by beating Home United 4-2. Brunei DPMM FC scored its opening goal in the 15th minute through Volodymyr Pryiomov. A few minutes later, Abd Aziz Tamit added another goal for Brunei DPMM FC.

Volodymyr Pryiomov's free-kick in the 54th minute changed the position to 3-nil. Brunei DPMM FC strengthened its position with its 4th goal through Mojtaba Mollasaraei in the 71st minute. Home United scored its first goal in the 77th minute through Sirina Camara. Shahril Ishak doubled the score for Home United during the injury time. The 4-2 score stood until the final whistle.

To strengthen the country's socio-economic stability, the government requires solid support from its citizens and residents. According to the Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office, this is in line with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's titah during the opening of the First meeting of the 14th Session of the Legislative Council for this year that highlighted the nation must consolidate its resources towards the growth of the Gross Domestic Product or GDP. Awang Mohamed Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohamed Yunos was speaking during the Retirement Certificate Presentation Ceremony for the year 2015 to 2017 of the Prime Minister's Office and its departments, yesterday afternoon. Awang Mohamed Reza who is also the Chairman of the event said, the function was a show of appreciation to the retired officers and staff for their service and contribution towards efficient government services including upholding the initiative towards Wawasan Brunei 2035.

He hoped that the retiree's experience and knowledge can be shared to the public. Their contribution will help in shaping a new generation of authoritative and quality leaders, and assist future generation to be more independent and competitive.

382 retirees received their certificates and token of appreciation handed over by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office. Also present was Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jammy bin Haji Muhd Shah Al-Islam, The Commissioner of Police. The ceremony was held in honour of the officers and personnel who had devoted their time and energy throughout their tenure in the public service, especially for the Prime Minister's Office and its departments.

The ceremony was held at the RAF Shawbury, United Kingdom. Accompanying His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince Haji 'Abdul 'Azim; Her Royal Highness Princess 'Azemah Ni'matul Bolkiah; and Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah. His Majesty's arrival at the RAF Shawbury was welcomed by Sir Algernon Heber Percy, Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire; Air Marshal Sean Reynolds, Deputy Commander Capability and Air Member for Personnel & Capability; Air Vice-Marshal Warren James, Air Officer Commanding 22 Group; Air Commodore David Bentley, Director of Flying Training; and Group Captain R S Norris, Station Commander RAF Shawbury. Upon arrival, His Majesty proceeded to the lobby of the Officers' Mess of the RAF Shawbury to sign the guestbook. His Majesty was then invited to the Library Room for light refreshments followed by a briefing about the Graduation Ceremony from Captain R.S. Norris, Station Commander RAF Shawbury. His Majesty later proceeded to Hangar 2 for the Certificate and RAF Wing Badge Presentation Ceremony.

The ceremony began with His Majesty receiving the Salute from the Static Guard of Honour and Colour Guard. His Majesty was subsequently invited to inspect the Static Guards and Colour Guard. It was followed by a welcoming speech by Group Captain R. S. Norris, Station Commander RAF Shawbury. The ceremony continued with a recital of Doa for the presentation of the RAF Wing Badges.

His Majesty then presented the RAF Wing Badge and Certificate to His Royal Highness Captain Prince 'Abdul Mateen. His Majesty also presented Certificates and RAF Wing Badges to the course participants which consisted of 6 Single Engine Rotary Wing participants including His Royal Highness Captain Prince 'Abdul Mateen; 2 Joint Aircrewmen; 8 Multi Engine Rotary Wing Series 167 participants; and 11 Multi Engine Rotary Wing Series 169 participants. The Ceremony continued with a speech by Air Vice-Marshal Warren James, Air Officer Commanding 22 Group. His Majesty was then invited to view the exhibition of latest helicopter models which will be used for the next course series as well as a flypast demonstration. Before leaving the ceremony, His Majesty joined His Royal Highness Captain Prince 'Abdul Mateen and other course participants for a group photo.

At midday, His Majesty was invited to the Dining Hall of the Officers' Mess of the RAF Shawbury to attend a Luncheon. Prior to that, course participants and families had the opportunity to interact with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at the Ante Room, Officers' Mess of the RAF Shawbury. The event began with a welcoming speech by Wing Commander Holly Steel, Commanding Officer of the Defence Helicopter Flying School.

During the luncheon, officers and attendees offered a toast to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; and to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, followed by the National Anthems of both - the United Kingdom and Brunei Darussalam.

Afterwards, His Majesty presented awards to the best course participants. His Majesty, as the Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, also presented the Ministry of Defence plaque to Group Captain R. S. Norris, Station Commander RAF Shawbury. The luncheon concluded with a speech by Air Marshal Sean Reynolds, Deputy Commander Capability and Air Member for Personnel & Capability.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, President of the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam, NFABD as Advisor of the Executive Committee of the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy for ASEAN Youth Football Championship 2018 yesterday morning attended the second HBT 2018 Executive Committee meeting. The meeting was held at the Conference Room of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

The meeting began with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by Yang Dimuliakan Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Awang Haji Suhaili bin Haji Metali Al-Hafiz. 

Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, in his welcoming address, among others shared about the preparations which are actively being carried out as well as the concerted support from the committee in ensuring the tournament runs smoothly.

The meeting, which was chaired by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, among others discussed reports on the latest developments from the HBT 2018 Working Committees. The meeting was also attended by Datin Paduka Doctor Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Acting Minister of Education and Datin Dayang Hajah Elinda binti C.A Mohamed, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office. In this year's championship, Brunei Darussalam as the host country is placed in Group A together with Thailand, Myanmar and Timor Leste, while Cambodia, Lao People's Democratic Republic and Singapore make up the teams in Group B. The championship's opening ceremony, which will take place on the 23rd of next month at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas, will see Brunei Darussalam take on Timor Leste. The championship will be held until the 5th of May 2018.

The visit aimed to further enhance defence cooperation between the two Armed Forces. The audience ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman. 

Accompanying His Excellency were His Excellency Retired Major General Tariq Rashid Khan, High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Brunei Darussalam; and Commodore Jawad Ahmed TI, Defence Adviser of Islamic Republic of Pakistan accredited to Brunei Darussalam. Also present were Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Second Minister of Defence; and Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. Both armed forces have enhance personal development and professionalism through a secondment programme of Pakistan military medical officers to the RBAF.

In another section of Istana Nurul Iman, Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam received in audience Mrs. Ayesha Bajwa, the spouse of the Chief of Army Staff, Pakistan Army. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSME's account for over 97 percent of all enterprises in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) economies, and 20 to 50 percent of the Gross Domestic Product across the region. However, it is not proportionate to the direct exports contributed by MSME export performance and for them to take advantage of the growth potential from exporting and through trade liberalisation. Hence, they must continue the efforts, and take bold steps in transforming their business landscape into an avenue that is truly conducive and enable their business to grow and expand, particularly in encouraging their participation in the global value chain. This was among the matters highlighted by Awang Haji Kamaludin bin Haji Bungsu, the Permanent Secretary for Manpower and SHENA at the Energy and Industry Department, at the opening of the 46th APEC SME Working Group Meeting (APEC SMEWG), yesterday morning at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

According to Awang Haji Kamaludin, as MSMEs take a centre stage in our economic development agenda, it has become more apparent and evident that department's works must lead towards ensuring that all spectrums of MSME development are being taken into account, and their issues are addressed within the department's development initiatives. He added that with the ever-growing global market opportunities and fast-increasing competition it is crucial that innovation and productivity are spurred among the MSMEs, digital capability and connectivity is enhanced through robust infrastructure, and policy, as well as regulatory framework, is conducive. Apart from that, access to international market should also be widened and made easy through elimination of trade barriers, access to funding platforms is expanded and capacity development is strengthened to allow for greater competitiveness and resilience of the MSMEs take part in the global value chain.

The meeting discussed the latest status and progress of regional projects in MSME's development in alignment with APEC SMEWG strategic action plan 2012-2020. The action plan includes focus on important pillars such as entrepreneurship; innovation and the internet and digital economy; financing for business expansion and capability development; inclusive business ecosystem that supports SME growth and market access for MSME's. The meeting is chaired by Nguyen Hoa Guong, Deputy Director General of the Agency for Enterprise Development from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Vietnam. The 2-day meeting is jointly organised by the Energy and Industry Department and Darussalam Enterprise DARe.

This was among the content of the Tazkirah Subuh or Dawn Talk titled 'Riadah Sebagai Satu Sunnah' during the 'Masjidku Makmur, Negara Berkat' programme at the Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital.

Among those present were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; and Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Second Minister of Defence. The tazkirah was delivered by Major Ariffin bin Amit @ Hamid, Assistant Head of Religion, Administration and Operation Department, Royal Brunei Armed Forces. Also present were Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs; and Awang Roslan bin Haji Taja'ah, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Administration and Finance at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
