Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni
Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien,
Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday afternoon received in audience General Sir Gordon Messenger, KCB, DSO, OBE, ADC, Vice Chief of the
Defence Staff of the United Kingdom. General Sir Gordon Messenger is in
Brunei Darussalam for four days as part of his visit to this region
after participating in the IISS Fullerton Forum: The Shangri-La Dialogue
Sherpa Meeting held in the Republic of Singapore.
General Sir Gordon Messenger were His Excellency Richard Lindsay,
British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam; and Colonel Mike Page,
British Defence Advisor to Brunei Darussalam. Also present were Yang
Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri
Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Second Minister of Defence, and
Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud,
Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).

The Prime Minister's Office was established on 1st January 1984 on the resumption of full independence and sovereignty of Brunei Darussalam.
