225 graduates received the Doctor of Philosophy, Masters and Bachelor's Degrees, as well as Diplomas at this year's Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College, KUPU SB Convocation Ceremony. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam as Chancellor of KUPU SB conferred the degrees and diplomas to the graduates. The ceremony took place at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre in Berakas.
The reading of Surah Al-Fatihah was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, State Mufti.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs, and Associate Professor Doctor Abdul Nasir bin Haji Abdul Rani, Ra'es of KUPU SB.
The reading of Surah Ali-Imran verses 190 to 194 was presented by the graduates. The Ra'es of KUPU SB in his welcoming speech touched on the latest developments including the international recognition for the Bachelor's Degree Program in Religious Teaching. His Majesty then proceeded to confer the degrees and diplomas to the graduates.
Of the 225 graduates, 2 graduates received Doctor of Philosophy; 3 graduates received Master's Degrees; 38 received Postgraduate Diplomas; 94 received Bachelor's Degrees; 93 received Higher National Diplomas, and 22 graduates received Diplomas.
As the only University College in the field of Religious Education, KUPU SB is responsible for producing pious, highly skilled and marketable educators and leaders. Doa Selamat was read by the State Mufti.
Prior to departure, His Majesty was briefed on the development of the KUPU SB Mushaf.
KUPU SB will continue to be committed in developing a fair and inclusive quality education for all levels.
