His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam performed the first Friday Prayer for As-Salaam Mosque, Kampung Junjongan, 6th December afternoon. Also in attendance was His Majesty's son, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik.
On arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs
His Majesty was graciously invited to sign a plaque, as the call of Takbir echoed 3 times. The first Azan or prayer call for Friday prayer was performed by Awang Azri bin Abdullah alias Abdul Rahman, Mosque Affairs Officer
Pengiran Haji Haslin bin Pengiran Haji Ali, Acting Director of Haj Management in a khutbah or sermon on 'Preserving, Honouring and Enriching Mosques' among others shared the efforts carried out to glorify mosques in the country with spiritual and practical activities. The Friday Prayer was led by Awang Haji Hayrul bin Haji Hakim, Mosque Officer at As-Salaam Mosque.
Build with the cost of 5.2 million dollars, the foundation of the mosque was erected on the 18th of June 2022.
