
His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam will hold a State Visit to the People's Republic of China on 6th February 2025 in Beijing, as well as attend the Opening Ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games on 7th February 2025 in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province in China. Whilst in Beijing, His Majesty will hold separate meetings with His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China; His Excellency Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China; and His Excellency Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, to reaffirm bilateral relations and further enhance cooperation in areas of mutual benefit to both countries as well as the prosperity and well-being of the people. Brunei Darussalam and the People's Republic of China established diplomatic relations on 30th September 1991, in which the relations were elevated to a Strategic Cooperative Partnership on 19th November 2018. Brunei and China also share warm and long-standing relations in various fields including trade and investment, agriculture and fisheries, youth, sports, tourism, culture and people-to-people exchanges. Both countries are also closely cooperating in projects including the Brunei Guangxi Economic Corridor (BGEC), Hengyi Industries Sdn. Bhd. and Beibu Gulf Holdings Company Limited. His Majesty last visited Beijing in April 2019 to attend the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. Meanwhile, His Majesty last made a State Visit to the People's Republic of China in September 2017.
