As the lead agency responsible for national security policies in Brunei Darussalam, the Prime Minister's Office will continue to use the 'Whole-of-Nation' and 'Whole-of-Government' approaches in addressing transnational criminal activities that have the potential to affect the safety and security of people in the country. Speaking during the 16th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime, AMMTC Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Chairman of the National Security Committee, emphasised that one aspect of transnational crime that was prevalent in a number of other ASEAN Member States including Brunei Darussalam during the pandemic is the rise in smuggling activities especially across porous land borders and waterways. The meeting was held virtually on 21st September morning.
