His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa‘adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, today visited the King’s College London in the United Kingdom in preparation for Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah to study at the King’s College London in the United Kingdom.
Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The arrival of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at the New Hunt’s House, King’s College London was greeted by Professor Shitij Kapur, Vice-Chancellor and President of King’s College London.
His Majesty was then invited to tour several learning facilities at KCL while listening to briefing by KCL teaching personnel. Among the locations visited by His Majesty were the Lecture Theatre, Science Laboratory, Learning room and Library.
While at King’s College London, His Majesty visited the Henriette Raphael Building to tour Guy’s Informal Learning Space, which is a self-study space for students. His Majesty then proceeded to the Greenwood Theatre to visit the main lecture room at Guy’s Campus.
His Majesty also had the opportunity to visit one of the Campus’ dormitories to tour the residential rooms and facilities available in the student residence such as the shared kitchen, gymnasium and Common Room.
Before concluding the visit, His Majesty joined a group photo with representatives from King’s College London at The Courtyard.
Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah will undertake a Bachelor Degree in the field of Life Sciences at King’s College London for three years. The field of study focuses on, among others areas, biochemistry, biophysics, and immunology as well as equipping students with several practical skills such as laboratory techniques, data analysis, and experimental design.
King’s College London (KCL) stands as one of the oldest university-level institutions in England. Seven years after its creation, it co-founded the University of London alongside University College London (UCL) in 1836, cementing its role as a bedrock of higher education in the United Kingdom.
KCL ranks among the top 40 universities in the world and is internationally recognised for its research excellence and transformative contributions to the fields of health and healthcare.
