The State Opening of the First Meeting of the 22nd Session of the Legislative Council took place at the Dewan Majlis Building in Jalan Dewan Majlis. This marks the start of debate of the National Budget for the Financial Year 2026/2027. Also in attendance were His Majesty’s sons and brothers, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office as Ex-Officio Member; His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, Speaker of the Legislative Council, and and Doctor Dayang Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah, Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers’ Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council.
His Majesty’s arrival at the Dewan Persidangan was accompanied by the procession bringing in the Ceremonial Mace of the Legislative Council.
Doa Selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.
The 22nd Session of the Legislative Council will debate and approve the Supply Bill 2026/2027.

His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam as well as members of the Royal Family were greeted upon arrival at Jerudong Park Medical Centre by Ministers and Deputy Ministers.
By consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, a Special Announcement by the Prime Minister’s Office was broadcast from Jerudong Park Medical Centre.
The Special Announcement was delivered by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Defence; Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Haji Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Awang Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs; and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health.
The Special Announcement began with the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and the Second Minister of Defence.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam attended a Get-Together Ceremony with citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam who are in the United Kingdom and Ireland, held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London.
Upon arrival, His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri were welcomed by His Excellency Retired First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to the United Kingdom and Ireland and spouse, Pengiran Datin Noralam binti Pengiran Haji Kahar; together with Dayangku Nabilah binti Pengiran Behrin, President of the Brunei Students’ Union; and, Dayang Zuhrah Fatin Aina binti Mohammad Shukri, Vice-President of the Union.
In a welcoming remark, the President of BSU shared on the theme of the ceremony, “Raja Berwawasan, Belia Pemacu Cita Negara”, which reflected His Majesty’s far-sighted leadership. His Majesty received a pesambah comprising a badminton racket with a specially designed cover and a Ristaan book. Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri also received a pesambah in a floral tribute stained-glass featuring five national flowers. The ceremony was further enlivened by a tausyeh performance titled ‘Bissalaamil Mubin’.
His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri mingled with approximately 1,130 citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
