His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, this afternoon received an audience of 13 Heads of Delegation from ASEAN member states and People’s Republic of China participating in the “16th China-ASEAN Prosecutor’s General Conference (CAPGC)”, held from 21 to 22 October 2026.

Also present at the Ceremony was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office.

During the Audience, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Heads of Delegation discussed legal developments and issues in the ASEAN region and the People’s Republic of China, specifically Hong Kong and Macau.

The 16th China-ASEAN Prosecutor’s General Conference (CAPGC) is a regular multilateral platform for high-level exchanges between prosecution authorities of People’s Republic of China and ASEAN member states on issues of common interest, with a view to enhancing capacities in combatting transnational crimes, protecting people’s livelihoods and maintaining regional stability. This year’s Conference is held under the theme “Protecting Children in the Digital Age: Harmonizing Legal Frameworks and International Cooperation”.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam first presented Letters of Credence to His Excellency Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Hisham bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the People’s Republic of China and His Excellency Sheikh Abdul Mahdani bin Dato Paduka Sheikh Haji Abdul Gani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of France.

His Majesty then received Letters of Credence from resident Foreign Envoys to Brunei Darussalam, namely His Excellency Chen Shaochun, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam; Her Excellency Do Thuy Duong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to Brunei Darussalam; His Excellency Soe Thet Naung, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Brunei Darussalam; and Her Excellency Melanie Barlow, British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam.

His Majesty later received Letters of Credence from 20 non-resident Foreign Envoys to Brunei Darussalam, namely:

The delegation comprised of Yang Amat Arif Dato’ Haji Mohd. Amran bin Haji Mat Zain, Director-General and Chief Syar’ie Judge of the Malaysian Syariah Judiciary Department; Yang Mulia Dr. H. Yasardin S.H., M. Hum., Junior Chief / Chief of the Religious Chambers of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia; and Yang Amat Arif Dr. Irwan Hadi bin Mohd. Shuhaimy, Senior President of the Syariah Court Singapore.

During the audience ceremony, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Heads of Delegation discussed current developments and issues regarding the Syariah judicial and legal issues in Southeast Asia.

The Heads of Delegations are in the country to attend the Fourth Southeast Asian Syariah Judicial and Legal Conference 2026, and followed by the Syariah Judicial and Legal Secretariat Meeting, held from the 6th to 8th October 2026 in Bandar Seri Begawan.

The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s Office building.

Upon arrival, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was greeted by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd. Hanifah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (Energy, Upstream and Downstream) and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd. Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister of Finance II, in their capacity as members of the BSP and BSM Board of Directors.

At the meeting, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam delivered a closing titah. His Majesty emphasised the importance of sustaining strong performance and maintaining a continued focus on improvement to support the long-term objectives of the companies.

His Majesty highlighted the importance of maintaining a strong focus on safety, operational and financial performance, while continuing to strengthen the capabilities and resilience required to navigate an evolving business environment.

His Majesty also emphasized the importance of closer collaboration within and across the Brunei Shell Joint Venture Companies, including leveraging collective capabilities, resources and expertise to improve efficiency, strengthen operational resilience and create greater value across the portfolio.

The meetings also deliberated on key matters relating to the performance and future priorities of BSP and BSM, including workforce development and business planning.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders including Shareholder Directors representing the Government of His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Shell plc, as well as members of the respective Management from BSP and BSM.

This marks the end of the Brunei Shell Joint Venture Companies’ Board Meetings for the Third Quarter of 2026.

The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s Office building.

Upon arrival, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was greeted by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd. Hanifah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (Energy, Upstream and Downstream) and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd. Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister of Finance II, in their capacity as members of the BLNG and BGC Board of Directors.

The meeting commenced with the recitation of Doa. At the beginning of the meeting, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang DiPertuan of Brunei Darussalam delivered an opening titah. His Majesty recognised the encouraging achievements of the Brunei Shell Joint Venture Companies to date, as well as their ongoing efforts towards continuous improvement.

The meetings discussed key areas including operational and financial performance, safety and operational reliability, workforce development, and business planning. Discussions also focused on efforts to further strengthen the performance and competitiveness of the respective companies, while building the capabilities required to deliver sustainable value amid an evolving business and energy landscape.

His Majesty also emphasised the importance of having a clear path towards realising the potential of each company, including the priorities and strategic choices required to support long-term performance and competitiveness. Attention was also given to the importance of effective alignment and collaboration across the Brunei Shell Joint Venture Companies.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders including Shareholder Directors representing the Government of His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Shell plc and Mitsubishi Corporation, as well as members of the respective Management from BLNG and BGC.

His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam will also chair the 420th Meeting of the Board of Directors of Brunei Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd (BSP) and the 198th Meeting of the Board of Directors of Brunei Shell Marketing Sdn Bhd (BSM) for the Third Quarter of 2026, tomorrow.

During the audience ceremony, His Majesty and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines discussed the on-going judicial cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines was in the country for a working visit from August 29 to 31, 2026, and to attend the memorandum of understanding signing between the Judicial Education and Training Unit of the Supreme Court of Brunei Darussalam and the Philippine Judicial Academy on Sunday in Bandar Seri Begawan.
