In conjunction with the 27th Annual Leaders’ Consultation between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia, a Luncheon was held at Baitur Rahmah, Istana Nurul Iman.

The Luncheon began with the recitation of a Doa Selamat by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr.) Ustaz Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

His Majesty and the Prime Minister of Malaysia together witness the Signing Ceremony of the MoU

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and The Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia together proceeded to Baitul Mesyuarah to witness the Signing Ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Government of Malaysia, namely:

Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Government of Malaysia on Cooperation in Disaster Management

Signing on behalf of the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Acting Coordinating Minister for Social and Manpower Policies and Acting Minister of Home Affairs. Meanwhile, the Government of Malaysia was represented by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

His Majesty and the Prime Minister of Malaysia held a Four-Eyes Meeting

After the Audience Ceremony, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and The Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia held a Four-Eyes Meeting.

During the Meeting, both Leaders discussed several key sectors to further deepen strategic and bilateral collaboration, as well as enhance economic integration, while exploring new opportunities for cooperation that will be mutually beneficial for both countries. Both Leaders reaffirmed their commitment to regular consultations to advance these initiatives. The Leaders also welcomed the renewal of a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Disaster Management to enhance joint emergency response capabilities.

His Majesty received in audience the Prime Minister of Malaysia

His Majesty received the Prime Minister of Malaysia for the Audience Ceremony at Cheradi Laila Kenchana, Istana Nurul Iman.

Present at the Audience Ceremony were members of the Royal Family.

Also present were the Malaysian delegation; and Coordinating Minister for National Security, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, as the Minister-in-attendance.

The Audience Ceremony was followed by the Conferment Ceremony of State Decoration.

His Majesty conferred the Most Honorable Laila Utama Order (DK) to the Prime Minister of Malaysia, which carries the title ‘Dato Laila Utama’.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on Saturday afternoon received in audience outgoing Ambassador of Myanmar to Brunei Darussalam U Sein Oo.

The outgoing ambassador presented his Letter of Credence to His Majesty on October 18, 2025.

The audience ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman.

His Majesty received in audience with China Defence Minister

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on Tuesday received in audience the Minister of National Defence of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Admiral Dong Jun.

The Audience Ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman.

Accompanying His Excellency Admiral Dong Jun were Ambassador-Designate Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Chen Shaochun and senior officials from the Ministry of National Defense of the People’s Republic of China.

Also present was Coordinating Minister for National Security, Minister at Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof.

Brunei Darussalam and the People’s Republic of China have enjoyed close defence relations which continue to be strengthened through various cooperative initiatives, under the Memorandum of Understanding on Defence Cooperation, the establishment of a Joint Defence Working Committee Meeting, and placement of defence attachés between the two countries.

Under the ambit of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus), Brunei Darussalam and the People’s Republic of China are also the co-chairs of the ADMM-Plus Experts’ Working Group on Peacekeeping Operations for the 2024-2027 cycle.
