Board of Directors Meeting of BLNG & BGC

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a titah acknowledged the strong performance demonstrated by Brunei LNG Sendirian Berhad, BLNG; and Brunei Gas Carriers Sendirian Berhad, BGC in 2025, particularly in operational excellence, financial resilience and commitment towards safety.

In this regard, His Majesty emphasised that importance of sustaining this momentum for the rest of 2026 particularly as the global energy landscape is currently marked by geopolitical uncertainty and volatility in oil prices. His Majesty highlighted that these external pressures require vigilance, resilience and prudent judgment at all levels of the organisation. His Majesty also emphasised the need to adopt a long-term perspective in all matters of significance, which extends beyond immediate market cycles and short-term fluctuations.

His Majesty made the titah while chairing the 229th Board of Directors Meeting of BLNG and the 115th Board of Meeting of BGC for the First Quarter of 2026. The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd. Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, and Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd. Hanifah, Deputy Minister for Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office, in their capacity as members of the BLNG and BGC Board of Directors. The meeting commenced with a recitation of Doa. The meeting discussed key areas such as safety, operational performance, financials, manpower development, and setting the company’s strategic direction for both BLNG and BGC. The meeting was also attended by key stakeholders including Shareholder Directors representing the Government of His Majesty, Shell PLC and Mitsubishi Corporation, as well as members of the respective Management from BLNG and BGC. His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam will also chair the 418th Meeting of the Board of Directors of Brunei Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd (BSP) and the 196th Meeting of the Board of Directors of Brunei Shell Marketing Sdn Bhd (BSM) for the First Quarter of 2026, 23rd April 2026.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam chaired the Wawasan Brunei 2035 Special Session Meeting. It was held at Istana Nurul Iman, 18th April morning. Also attending was His Majesty’s son, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Wawasan Brunei 2035 remains as the nation’s main strategic framework in spurring Brunei Darussalam’s socio-economic development towards achieving sustainable prosperity and the well-being of the people.

Audience and Junjung Ziarah Ceremony

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam received in audience and junjung ziarah from the country’s intending haj pilgrims. The ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman, 16th April afternoon.

Also present was His Majesty’s son, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office.

His Majesty received in audience and junjung ziarah from 1,020 intending haj pilgrims, comprising 490 males and 530 females. The figure includes officers of the Brunei Darussalam Haj Management Office for Administration and Medical, and haj operators.

The intending pilgrims will depart for Madinah on four separate flights which are on the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th of May.

Prior to leaving for the Holy Land, the intending pilgrims are reminded to prioritise all necessary preparations.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a titah stresses that the Brunei Darussalam-Australia Comprehensive Partnership ensured the continuity of friendship and ties between both countries. His Majesty stated that energy and food security as important areas to also enhance economic growth.

The monarch in a titah also highlighted Brunei Darussalam and Australia’s close ties in trade, defence, education and people-to-people exchanges. His Majesty made the titah during the Bilateral Meeting between The Honourable Prime Minister of Australia who was in Brunei Darussalam for a two-day Working Visit from 14th to 15th of April 2026. Earlier, His Majesty received in audience The Honourable Anthony Albenese MP, Prime Minister of Australia. The Audience Ceremony took place at Cheradi Laila Kenchana, Istana Nurul Iman.

Also in attendance were members of the Royal Family. Also present were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports as Minister-in-attendance as well as the official delegation of Australia.

State Opening of the Legislative Council

The State Opening of the First Meeting of the 22nd Session of the Legislative Council took place at the Dewan Majlis Building in Jalan Dewan Majlis. This marks the start of debate of the National Budget for the Financial Year 2026/2027. Also in attendance were His Majesty’s sons and brothers, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office as Ex-Officio Member; His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, Speaker of the Legislative Council, and and Doctor Dayang Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah, Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers’ Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council.

His Majesty’s arrival at the Dewan Persidangan was accompanied by the procession bringing in the Ceremonial Mace of the Legislative Council.

Doa Selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

The 22nd Session of the Legislative Council will debate and approve the Supply Bill 2026/2027.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send messages of congratulations to his Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jabar Al-Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait and His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait as well as members of the Royal Family, the Government and people of the State of Kuwait on the occasion of its 65th National Day.
