His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam yesterday granted audiences to His Majesty’s special guests of the monarch’s 80th Birthday Celebration at Istana Nurul Iman.

His Majesty first consented to receive in audience Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar and spouse Toh Puan Fauziah binti Mohammad Sanusi; and Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development and Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment of Sarawak Dato Paduka Seri Laila Jasa Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah bin Ali Hasan and spouse Datin Dato Hajah Dayang Morliah binti Datuk Haji Awang Daud.

The audience ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman.

Crown Prince receives Singapore Senior Minister

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, accompanied by Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, received in audience Singapore Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife Ho Ching at Qashr Al-Meezan on Wednesday.

During the audience, His Royal Highness and the Singapore Senior Minister exchanged views on bilateral, regional and international cooperation.

Also accompanying the Singapore Senior Minister at the audience were Singapore Minister of State for Social and Family Development and Home Affairs Goh Pei Ming, and Singapore High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Yip Wei Kiat.

Lee and his delegation are in Brunei from July 14 to 17 to attend the celebrations marking the 80th birthday of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

As part of the official programme, the Singapore Senior Minister and his wife attended the Royal Guard of Honour ceremony as well as the investiture ceremony, and are scheduled to attend the Royal Banquet on Thursday.

During the visit, Lee is also expected to pay courtesy calls on several Brunei Cabinet ministers and visit members of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) currently undergoing training in Brunei.

The audience took place at Qashr Al-Meezan.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, The Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, as representative of the Government of His Majesty the Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, this morning signed the Book of Condolences at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Brunei Darussalam following the passing of His Highness The Father Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani on 12th July 2026.

The arrival of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was greeted by the His Excellency Abdullah Hamad Ali Al Adham Al Marri, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to Brunei Darussalam, and senior Embassy officials.

Also present at the signing of the Book of Condolence was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd. Yusof, the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu‘izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa‘adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, this afternoon received in audience The Right Honourable Chief Justice Tun Wan Ahmad Farid bin Wan Salleh, Chief Justice of Malaysia, who is in Brunei Darussalam for the biennial bilateral meeting between the Supreme Court of Brunei Darussalam and the Federal Court of Malaysia. The Audience Ceremony was held at Istana Nurul Iman.

Joining The Right Honourable Chief Justice Tun Wan Ahmad Farid bin Wan Salleh at the Audience Ceremony were The Honourable Toh Puan Intan Baizura binti Abdul Wahab, spouse to the Chief Justice; The Right Honourable Justice Datuk Seri Abu Bakar bin Jais, President of the Court of Appeal; The Right Honourable Justice Datuk Seri Hashim bin Hamzah, Chief Judge of Malaysia; The Right Honourable Justice Datuk Hajjah Azizah binti Haji Nawawi, Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak; His Excellency Datuk Mohd Aini Atan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam; and Yang Mulia Azhaniz Teh bin Azman Teh, Chief Registrar of the Federal Court.

Also present during the Audience Ceremony were Yang Amat Arif Dato Seri Paduka Steven Chong Wan Oon, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Brunei Darussalam; Yang Arif Awang Haji Abdullah Soefri bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court; Yang Arif Awang Muhammed Faisal bin Pehin Datu Juragan Laila Diraja Colonel (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Haji Kefli, Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court; Yang Mulia Awang Zulhusam bin Haji Abdul Samad, Permanent Secretary (Security and Law) at the Prime Minister’s Office; and Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Hazarena binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Haji Hurairah, Acting Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court.

During the Audience Ceremony, His Majesty and The Right Honourable Chief Justice of Malaysia touched on the continued strengthening of judicial cooperation between the Supreme Court of Brunei Darussalam and the Federal Court of Malaysia.

The Right Honourable Chief Justice Tun Wan Ahmad Farid bin Wan Salleh has served as Chief Justice of Malaysia since 28th July 2025, and this visit marks his first visit to Brunei Darussalam in that capacity.

His Majest Received A Courtesy Call From The Chief of Defence Forces, Royal Thai Armed Forces

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, graciously received a courtesy call from the Chief of Defence Forces, Royal Thai Armed Forces, His Excellency General Ukris Boontanondha, today.

Joining His Excellency General Ukris Boontanondha at the audience held at Istana Nurul Iman were the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Thailand to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Akrapong Chalermnon, and senior officers from the Royal Thai Armed Forces.

Brunei Darussalam and the Kingdom of Thailand have established diplomatic relations since January 1, 1984. The close bilateral relations between the two countries were also manifested during the recent 35th ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit in Kazan, Russian Federation, where His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, graciously received a courtesy call from the Prime Minister of Thailand, His Excellency Anutin Charnvirakul.

In the field of defence and military, the bilateral relations between the two countries continue to be strengthened through various defence and military activities, including courses, exchange visits, meetings, and exercises, as well as through multilateral platforms, particularly under the framework of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM).
