​His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office graced the Brunei ICT Awards, BICTA. The event was held on 3rd July morning, at the International Convention Centre in Berakas. Upon arrival, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince as the Royal Patron of BICTA was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications and Ingenieur Awang Haji Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mohammad Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications.

 

The reading of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.

 

The Minister of Transport and Infocommunications in his welcoming remarks among other things explained that this year's BICTA recorded the highest number of participation since it was first held. This reflects the outstanding interest from the young generation and educators in exploring and creating innovative solutions for the various challenges faced today.

 

His Royal Highness then presented the awards for each category. The 'Ask Alai' product by Rimba Three Primary School, and the 'Aquacool Evaporative Cooling Suit' by Berakas Secondary School respectively won the Primary and Secondary School categories.

 

Meanwhile, Universiti Teknologi Brunei placed first in the Tertiary School category with the product 'BirthPro VR: Low-risk Birth VR Simulation.' The Consumer and Business Services category went to Soul Cat Entertainment with its product 'Vague'.

 

'DigiThink' by DigiNations won the Inclusion and Community Services category.

 

Pararoutte Company with its project 'Empowering Rural and Urban Resilience: Holistic FloodTech,' and the 'eZakat' project by DataStream Digital, DST Sendirian Berhad respectively placed first in the Research and Development category and the Technology category.

 

The Smart Nation Award for the Logistics and Transport category went to TechBru Solution Brunei Sendirian Berhad, while the education category was won by the Education Technology Centre, Ministry of Education.

 

The 'eZakat' product received the BICTA Royal Patron Award.

 

His Royal Highness then proceeded to take a closer look at the BICTA 20 Years Gallery and the BICTA 2024 Winner's Exhibition.​
