Official Luncheon

​At noon, His Majesty proceeded together with His Excellency the Prime Minister of the Republic of India as well as members of the Royal Family and the official delegation of the Republic of India for the Official Luncheon, which took place at Baiturrahmah, Istana Nurul Iman.

 

The Official Luncheon began with the recitation of a Doa Selamat by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

 

In a titah, His Majesty says Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of India share deep-rooted friendship and strong people-to-people ties. His Majesty states that the work of both nations extends to regional and international forums, such as ASEAN-India Dialogue Relations.

 

 His Excellency in his remarks said both countries are committed to strengthening cooperation in economic, scientific and strategic sectors, and have decided to strengthen cooperation in FinTech and Cyber Security along with Agri-industry, pharmaceutical and health sectors. Under the energy sector, the potential for long term cooperation in LNG has been discussed. To strengthen defence cooperation, both nations held a constructive dialogue on possibilities of cooperation in defence industry, training and capacity building. To strengthen cooperation in the Space sector, the two countries have agreed on cooperation in satellite development, and training, and enhance connectivity between the two nations.

 

His Excellency added that Brunei Darussalam is an important partner in India's Act East Policy and Indo-Pacific Vision. The Republic of India is grateful for Brunei Darussalam's commitment to relations with the country. His Excellency added a new chapter has been added to the historical ties of both nations.

 

Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of India enjoy robust cooperation across key sectors including trade, energy, defence, health and education. The strategic partnership between the Republic of India and ASEAN also serves as a strong foundation for further enhancing bilateral relations.
