
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended the ASEAN Leaders' Interface with representatives of ASEAN Youth, which was held on 9th October afternoon, at the National Convention Centre, NCC, Vientiane. Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.
During the ASEAN Leaders' Interface with representatives of ASEAN Youth, His Majesty delivered a titah stating that the Interface serves as a valuable platform for dialogue with the youth as agents of change and development, to present recommendations for an interconnected and resilient ASEAN Community. In this regard, the youth were encouraged to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by various ASEAN initiatives, particularly in education and health, to harness their potential and contribute to regional development.
In continuing the positive trajectory in the Community-building efforts, His Majesty stresses that it is also crucial to integrate the youth's perspectives into the ASEAN Community Vision 2045. Aside from enriching the Vision, the active involvement of the youth significantly shapes the future of ASEAN, where their involvement is beneficial and impactful. Brunei Darussalam was represented by Mohamad Nazib bin Haji Lamat, Assistant Treasurer of the Brunei Youth Council; and Hazirah binti Sufian, Assistant Programme Development Officer under Green Brunei.
