His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is scheduled to hold a State Visit to the Republic of Peru from 12th to 13th November 2024. The visit will mark His Majesty's first State Visit to the Republic. Whilst in Lima, Peru, His Majesty, among others, will hold a meeting with Her Excellency Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra, President of the Republic of Peru, to reaffirm bilateral relations and further emphasise cooperation in areas of mutual benefit to both countries. Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Peru established diplomatic relations since 1st June 1990.
Following the State Visit, His Majesty will participate in the 31st Asia-Pacific Economic Leaders' Meeting, AELM on the 15th to 16th of November 2024 in Lima, with Peru as the host Economy, under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Peru. With the theme 'Empower. Include. Grow,' APEC 2024 aims to foster greater economic and technical collaboration among the member economies of APEC. Key priorities for the meeting include promoting inclusive and interconnected growth through trade and investment; advancing innovation and digitalisation to promote the transition to the formal and global economy; and ensuring sustainable growth for resilient development. Peru has previously chaired APEC in 2008 and 2016.
