
At the Sovereign's Parade Ceremony of the 23rd Intake of the Officer Cadet School, Defence Academy, RBAF, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam commissioned 52 Officer Cadets as Military Officers. His Majesty also awarded the Sword of Honour and other awards to the best Officer Cadets in each field. The ceremony took place at the Parade Square of the Defence Academy, RBAF. Accompanying His Majesty was His Majesty's son, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence, and Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the RBAF.
Shortly after arriving, His Majesty received the Royal Salute and inspected the Guard of Honour under the command of the Parade Officer 1201 Captain Nursazwilla binti Rosdie.
The Sovereign's Parade was the culmination of the Officer Cadet School's intensive military training, aimed to equip the newly-commissioned officers with knowledge, discipline, professionalism, and leadership skills.
Throughout the training, the Officer Cadets have successfully demonstrated their capabilities, resilience and diligence in facing various challenges. His Majesty then commissioned the Officer Cadets.
The Sword of Honour was awarded to Officer Cadet Nor Azwar Zuwairey bin Haji Norshamli. Meanwhile, the Best Academic Award went to Officer Cadet Dk Nur Muta'wakillah binti Pengiran Haji Mohd Ali. Officer Cadet Muhammad Nizam Saaduddin bin Mohd Yusof received the Best Military Skills Award. Officer Cadet (Udara) Muhd Irfan Affendy bin Muhd Eddy Rizwan Affendy was awarded the Best in Physical Training Award.
Doa was read by Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Mujib bin Japar, Acting Director of the RBAF Religious Department, JAMA'AT.
From the Parade Square, His Majesty proceeded to Dewan Istiadat, Defence Academy, RBAF for a Junjung Ziarah Ceremony with the newly commissioned Officer Cadets and their family. Accompanying His Majesty was His Majesty's son, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office.
The Monarch received a Pasambah called 'Al-Intisar Al-Basala' which meant Victory and Bravery, and a Journey Book documenting the intensive military training.
The Officer Cadet's success in completing the training with the officers and trainers' solid commitment has produced young leaders with integrity and of high calibre, in line with the mission of the Defence Academy, RBAF.
His Majesty received junjung ziarah from the newly-commissioned Officer Cadets and their families.
Out of the 52 newly commissioned Officer Cadets, 25 are Royal Brunei Land Force Officers; 17 are Royal Brunei Navy Officers; 9 Royal Brunei Air Force Officers; and an international Officer Cadet was commissioned as a Malaysian Army Officer, Malaysian Armed Forces.
His Majesty then signed a Commemorative Parchment.
