His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam performed the first Friday Prayer for An-Na'im Mosque Kampung Panchor Mengkubau, 28th February noon. In attendance were His Majesty's sons, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik. On arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs and Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.
Shortly after arriving, His Majesty signed a plaque, accompanied by 3 calls of the Takbir. The Azan or call for Friday prayer was made by Awang Suhif @ Syu'aib bin Haji Abdullah, An-Na'im Mosque Officer. Awang Haji Ahmad Abdussalam bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Assistant Director of the Islamic Da'wah Centre in a sermon titled "Achieving the Perfection of Fasting" highlighted that those who perform the fast are required to be warak that is to stay away from the forbidden. The Friday prayer was led by Awang Muhammad Saifullah bin Haji Rosli, Mosque Affairs Officer.
Using allocations under the National Development Plan amounting 4.3 million dollars, this new mosque was built on an 8 acre plot of land.
