Nuzul Al-Qur'an Celebration

The National Level Nuzul Al-Qur'an celebration was enlivened with the presentation of prizes to winners and participants of the National Level Musabaqah Al-Qur'an Memorisation and Its Understanding for 1446 Hijrah and the MABIMS Member Countries Musabaqah Al-Qur'an Memorisation and its Understanding for 1446 Hijrah.

 

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam presented the prizes. Also in attendance were His Majesty's sons, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al- Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik.

 

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar, Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara;

 

- Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs;

 

- Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence;

 

- Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy;

 

- And Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism as the Co-Organiser of the Ceremony as well as members of the Executive Committee for National Level Major Islamic Event Celebrations for 1446 Hijrah.

 

The reading of surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

 

In his welcoming address, the Minister of Religious Affairs among other matters touched on the Nuzul Al-Qur'an celebration shaping the Islamic character of a country that practices Islam being rahmatan lil'alamin, which is compassionate to all citizens and residents. The harmony of a community will always be preserved when we work together with a healthy mind for good, avoiding evil and enmity."

 

The winners of the five categories of the Musabaqah presented their memorisation and understanding. Category A, memorisation of Juz or chapter 30 and its understanding for participants aged 13 and below.

 

Category B, which was memorisation of selected Surah namely Surah Luqmaan, Surah As-Sajdah, Surah Yaasin, Surah Ad- Dukhan, Surah Ar-Rahmaan, Surah Al-Waqi'ah, Suruh Al-Jumu'ah, Surah Al-Mulk, Surah Al-Jinn and Surah Al-Insaan as well as the understanding of Surah Al-Qasas and Surah Al-Ankabut for ages 14 and above.

 

Meanwhile, Category C, memorisation of Surah Al-Baqarah and Surah Ali-'Imraan as well as the understanding of Surah Yunus, Surah Ar-Ra'ad and Surah Ibrahim was open to all ages,

 

Category D, memorisation of Juz 1 to 15 as well as the understanding of Surah As- Saffat, Surah Sad and Surah Az-Zumar, open to all ages.

 

Category E, memorisation of 30 Juz of Al-Qur'an as well as the understanding of Ali-'Imran and Surah An-Nisa, open to all age levels.

 

Also presenting their memorisations and understanding were the winners of the MABIMS Member Countries Musabaqah Al-Qur'an Memorisation and its Understanding for the category of Memorisation of 10 Juz of Al-Qur'an and the understanding of Juz 10.

 

And the category for Memorisation of 30 Juz of Al-Qur'an as well as the understanding of Juz 24.

 

The champion of Category A, Dayang Nur Sofiyyah Solehah binti Mohammad Fikri received a cash prize of $1,500 dollars. Second Place went to Dayang Alya Sofiyyah binti Abdul ' Azim and in third place, Dayang Nur Hasanah binti Mohammad Fikri.

 

This was followed by the winner of Category B, Dayang Nur Abidah Bazilah binti Haji Rosmin who received a $2,000 cash prize. While, Dayangku Wajihah binti Pengiran Khairul Nazri came in second, and Awang Ahmad Dhabit bin Haji Abdul Lamit took third.

 

Meanwhile in Category 'C', Awang Abdul Matin bin Zulnorein received a cash prize of $2,800 Second place went to Awang Abdul Rashid bin Haji Mohammad Norazmi, while Awang Mohammad Ahmed Maahee bin Haji Samry placed third.

 

Receiving a cash prize of $3,500 was the champion of Category 'D', Dayang Nur Kamaliah binti Haji Jahari. In second place was Dayang Najihah binti Alias, and Dayangku Nurfaiezah binti Pengiran Haji Kamaluddin came in third.

 

The champion of Category E, Awangku Muhammad Abdul Qadir bin Pengiran Haji Ibrahim received a $5,000 cash prize. Runner-up was Awang Mohamed Shahmie bin Mohamed Shalahudeen, and Dayangku Nurol Hafizah binti Pengiran Haji Tejudin took third place.

 

The champion of the MABIMS Member Countries Musabaqah, for the Category of Memorisation of 10 Juz of Al-Qur'an and the understanding of Juz 10, was Hanim Mashlahah from the Republic of Indonesia who received a cash prize of $4,000. Second place went to Awang Ahmad Huzaifah bin Haji Awang Hasbi from Brunei Darussalam, and in third was Aisyah Nabihah binti Norr Hisham from Malaysia.

 

The champion of the Category of Memorisation of 30 Juz of Al-Qur'an as well as the understanding of Juz 24 was Muhammad Haikal Al Ghifari from the Republic of Indonesia, bringing home a $7,000 cash prize. In second place was Muhammad Rifaei bin Mat Zuki from Malaysia, and Awang Muhammad Mughni bin Haji Mohd Salleh from Brunei Darussalam came in third. The winners also received an accompanying trophy and certificate of participation.

 

This year's celebration was jointly organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, the MABIMS Centre for Al-Qur'an Studies and Dissemination as well as Imagine Sendirian Berhad.
