By the consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Ministry of Religious Affairs informed that His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to the name change for 'Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Girls Arabic Religious School' to become 'Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Arabic School' and 'Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School' to become 'Sekolah Tinggi Arab Hassanal Bolkiah'. The change among other things is aimed at improving the governance of Arabic schools in terms of using school names that are adapted to the level of learning and the students, as well as an effort to strengthen the school's background and history which is very significant to the country's progress, especially in producing highly educated and skilled people in religion/Arabic.
Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Arabic School is used by the Bandar Seri Begawan Arabic Preparatory School which houses upper primary female students; Year 5 and Year 6. Meanwhile, 'Sekolah Tinggi Arab Hassanal Bolkiah', previously known as the Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School, is the only Pre-U level Arabic education centre for male and female students in the country.
The enforcement date for the change for the schools names is effective Saturday, 28th Ramadhan 1446 Hijrah, corresponding to 29th March 2025.
