His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, attended the Royal Banquet in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the reign of His Royal Highness Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin ibni Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail, the Raja of Perlis, which was held at Istana Arau, Perlis, Malaysia, 17th April night. Earlier, the arrival of His Majesty in Perlis was welcomed by Yang Berhormat the Member of Parliament for Padang Besar as well as a 'Selamat Datang' dance performance.
Upon arrival at Istana Arau, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was greeted by His Royal Highness the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail and Her Royal Highness the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr. Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil. His Majesty then proceeded with His Royal Highness the Raja of Perlis and Her Royal Highness Tuanku Tengku Fauziah binti Almarhum Tengku Abdul Rasyid, the Raja Perempuan of Perlis for the Royal Banquet. The Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the Reign of His Royal Highness the Raja of Perlis were also enlivened with a fireworks display and cultural performances.
His Royal Highness Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin was proclaimed as the 7th Raja of Perlis on 17th April 2000 following the passing of his father, Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra ibni Almarhum Syed Hassan Jamalullail.
