1,177 graduates received their degrees and diplomas at UBD's 37th Convocation. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Chancellor of UBD conferred the Doctor of Philosophy, PhD, and Bachelor's degrees to 614 graduates. The ceremony took place at the Chancellor Hall, UBD.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, State Mufti.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd. Salleh, Minister of Education, and Doctor Hazri bin Haji Kifle, Vice Chancellor of UBD. Also present was His Royal Highness Prince Doctor Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, as Pro-Chancellor of UBD.
The reading of Surah Az-Zumar verses 53 to 57 was presented by Awang Muhammad Danial Haziq bin Haji Abdul Ghani, a Second Year student.
In the welcoming remarks, the Vice Chancellor of UBD among other things underlined the 'Gen.B.E.S.T.A.R.I.' that will commence on September 2026.
His Majesty then delivered the titah of consent to confer the degrees to the graduates.
Out of 614 graduates, 55 were conferred PhD in various fields including Education; History; Malay Literature; Malay Language and Linguistics; Art; Applied Physics; Biotechnology; Chemistry; and Geoscience.
559 graduates received the Bachelor's Degree in Arts; Science; Engineering; Digital Science and others.
The ceremony also marked the inaugural awarding of the Bachelor of Digital Science in Applied Artificial Intelligence and Master of Public Health to the programmes' first cohort of graduates.
Doa selamat was read by the State Mufti.
