His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Saadul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, received in audience Rear Admiral Geoffroy d'Andigne, Commander of Armed Forces in French Polynesia, Commander of the Pacific Experimental Center, Commander of the Pacific Ocean and French Polynesian Maritime Zones and Commander of the French Polynesia Defense Base. The Audience Ceremony took place on 26th September afternoon, at Istana Nurul Iman. The delegation is in the country for a five-day official visit from 23rd to 27th September 2023. The visit further strengthens the defence and military relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of France, in which both countries significantly enhanced bilateral defence and military cooperation since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding concerning Cooperation in Defence Matters and Defence Equipment on 25th February 1999. Present at the audience ceremony were Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence and Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
His Majesty received in audience Rear Admiral Geoffroy d'Andigne. Accompanying Rear Admiral Geoffroy d'Andigne were His Excellency Bernard Regnauld-Fabre, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to Brunei Darussalam, Captain (Navy) Riaz Akhoune, France Defence Attaché in the Republic of Singapore who is also accredited to Brunei Darussalam.
