World Climate Action Summit Opening Session

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a titah says Brunei Darussalam remains committed to addressing climate change. His Majesty made the titah while attending the first part of the High Level Segment for Heads of States and Government of the 28th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, COP 28 held at Expo City, Dubai. Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen. His Majesty first attended the Opening Session of the World Climate Action Summit. 

The arrival of His Majesty at the Al Wasl Dome was welcomed by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and His Excellency António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, UN. 

His Majesty, along with other Heads of State and Government, then proceeded for a group photograph session before attending the Opening Session of the World Climate Action Summit in Al Waha Theatre. 

His Majesty proceeded to Plenary Al-Hairat to attend the first part of the High Level Segment for Heads of States and Government of the COP 28. In the titah, His Majesty called for developed countries to honour past commitments in addressing the impact of climate change. 

Earlier, opening remarks were delivered by His Excellency Doctor Sultan Ahmed Al-Jaber, President of COP 28, UAE Special Envoy for Climate Change and Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; His Excellency Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India; His Excellency Dennis Francis, President of the United Nations General Assembly; and His Excellency António Guterres, UN Secretary-General.
