During the Sovereign's Parade Ceremony of the 22nd Intake of the Officer Cadet School, Defence Academy RBAF, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam commissioned 54 Officer Cadets as Military Officers. His Majesty also awarded the Sword of Honour and other awards to the best Officer Cadets in each field. The ceremony took place at the Parade Square of the Defence Academy, RBAF.
Upon arriving, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at The Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence and Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the RBAF.
Accompanying His Majesty were His Majesty's sons, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and His Royal Highness 920 Major Udara Prince 'Abdul Mateen.
Shortly after arriving, His Majesty received the Royal Salute and inspected the Guard of Honour under the command of the Parade Officer, 1211 Captain Umar Abdul Aziz bin Haji Yahya.
In line with its role, the Officer Cadet School, Defence Academy, RBAF trains skilled and knowledgeable cadet officers to perform their duties well and be able to face future challenges.
The participation of international officer cadets in the commissioning course at the Officer Cadet School can improve defence diplomacy relations.
His Majesty commissioned the Officer Cadets.
The Sword of Honour was awarded to Officer Cadet Dayangku Noor Umiatul Afiqah binti Pengiran Zainal Abidin.
The Best Academic Award went to Officer Cadet Haziq Zharfan bin Haji Awang Hasbolah.
Officer Cadet Murfiqah binti Muhammad received the Best Military Skills Award.
Meanwhile, Officer Cadet Awangku Muhd Syahiiruddin bin Pengiran Haji Tengah received the Best in Physical Training Award.
Officer Cadet Muhammad Akid bin Ayub from Republic of Singapore received the Outstanding International Officer Cadet Award.
Doa selamat was read by Commander Haji Ainolnizam bin Haji Ibrahim, Royal Brunei Navy, Director of RBAF Religious Directorate, JAMA'AT.
The Sovereign's Parade is the Ministry of Defence and RBAF's platform for development, especially in raising aspirations to increase the level of professionalism and transformation of state defence institutions.
