His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam paid his last respects to Allahyarham Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal at Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque in Sengkurong, 2nd February morning. Allahyarham passed away at Allahyarham's child residence in Kampung Sengkurong 'A' at 5:22 in the morning at the age of 84. Also in attendance was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office.
His Majesty performed the jenazah or funeral prayer led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti. Allahyarham was a member of the Privy Council, the Council of Succession, the Islamic Religious Council. Allahyarham was also appointed as the Member of the Legislative Council, Under The Category of Among the Titled Persons and the Council of State Customs. Allahyarham has 2 children and 2 grandchildren. Allahyarham was buried at Tanah Perkuburan Bukit Sadur Tanjong Nangka.
